Recipes

Chicken or Turkey or Meat: Always cooked No pork or deli meats, because pork and deli meats are high in nitrites and salt.

Seafood: Sometimes instead of meat or poultry, I will use Salmon, tuna, shrimp, lobster, seafood, fish with the same basic recipe ingredients. We know the health benefits of eating seafood like vitamins A and D, phosphorus, magnesium, and selenium. Research shows that omega-3 fatty acids, However, I never use farm fish as wild-caught fish is often healthier, with less contamination from man-made toxins because they feed on a natural diet of smaller fish and algae and come into contact with less bacteria and parasites..Don't eat more than 2 meals a week as fish contains mercury with some fish having higher levels of mercury like shark, swordfish, king mackerel, Orange, or tile fish. this can increase risks for heart disease and neurological problems The only farmed seafood that is safe is Clams, oysters, scallops, and mussels.

Brown rice, cooked or sometimes I will use sweet potatoes instead of brown rice.

Peas: You might have to mash the peas into smaller pieces or you could end up with peas that are licked clean. Also, you will find peas in their poop

Carrots: biotin, vitamin K, dietary fiber, molybdenum, potassium, vitamin B6 and vitamin C. They are a good source of manganese, vitamin B3, , vitamin B1, panthothenic acid, phosphorus, folate, copper, vitamin E and vitamin B2. Carrots are often called the world's healthiest foods

Honey: a little local organic honey helps with allergies.and prevent hypoglycemia and has an antiseptic and has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.

Coconut oil: has been used as a medicinal agent for cancer, diabetes, diarrhea, dry skin, and soriasis and is used as an antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral agent for the treatment of dermal infections. You can put this on their skin as well as in their food. It won't make them sick if they lick it.

Eggs: Always cooked! We know that eggs have the protein that is needed. but NEVER give a raw egg as the whites contain enzyme inhibitors which can interfere with digestion, especially in very young and old animals.in their intestines and if they ever get worms the worms will eat through the lining of the intestines. I guess I am "old school" but I learned that 40 years ago in vet school. Maybe the "experts: of today will disagree with me.

Cook all ingredients and mix well. Refrigerate or freeze in small amounts and thaw as needed. Serve warm but DO NOT serve hot.

Sometimes I will substitute some of the veggies like spinach, some apple, mashed bananas, green beans, a few cooked beans for fiber

You can buy your produce at the grocery store, just wash the produce with apple cider vinegar and rinse to remove pesticides. Of course organic is better but it is more costly. I prefer fresh or frozen veggies. I will post another blog about the dangers of canned foods on another post.

If your baby has a few pounds to lose, you can add some very very fine shredded lettuce to the food. But don't be surprised if they lick the lettuce clean

Never use corn! Corn has no nutritional value, causes gas and puts on weight! More importantly, Corn has MOLD!

Never use salt!

In the Winter I add a small amount of water to their food so that they get more fluids due to the heat being on in the house.

Another post about food for chihuahua's:

Stay away from canned foods! Not just for your babies but for yourself as well! Try to only eat fresh, frozen or what you canned yourself.

When produce comes out of the fields it is determined where is goes and how it is processed. If it is to be fresh or frozen, it goes out for processing immediately. Otherwise, if it is to be canned, it can sit for days. Have you ever left an apple on the counter for a few days ? Did you get a fly? What does a fly leave? Eggs. Eggs make maggots. The produce is cooked down with the maggots. Sad but true. You are eating boiled maggots and the FDA allows it. Its all natural.

Basically, food contamination from sources such as maggots, thrips, insect fragments, "foreign matter", mold, rodent hairs, and insect and mammalian feces are accepted.
